a high Himalayan sensational journey in one of the most isolated corner of Tibet from cultural tour at the captivating cities of Lhasa, Gyantse and Shigatse and in the lush green vegetation to the arctic terrain, a complete views of the snow capped peaks, traditional villages and warm locals and trekking right into the heart of the massif High Himlayan Mountain range.
One of the most spectacular treks across the border, the trip begins with a sweeping flight to Lhasa at 3,650m.with superb view, flying above the world’s greatest snow peak range. On arrival at Lhasa guided cultural tours with ample time for acclimatisation before starting this exciting adventure.
From Lhasa a scenic drive towards Kharte with sightseeing tours at the famed ancient towns and cities of Gyantse and Shigatse. On arriving Shegar, our adventure starts off the main highway to Kathmandu, the road climbs to the most wonderful scenic point at Pangla pass 5,200m, the most amazing views of the great Himalayan peaks including the five eight thousanders, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu and Shishapangma.
Our drive continues towards Kharte for the overnight camp and the start of our trekking adventure in the vicinity of the high southern mountains crossing high passes and towards the Makalu and Everest region crossing high passes of over 5,300m and yak dwellers nomad’s camps and thus concluding our marvelous walking journey with a drive to the Everest Base Camp. Here we will have a day for local hike around beneath the soaring Chomolungmo (Mt. Everest), from here our scenic drive takes you back to Kathmandu through the most spectacular view points at Lalung-la and via the border town of Nylam and Zhangmu.
On arrival at Kathmandu Airport via respective airlines, our staff will receive and transfer you to the Hotel; our guide will give you a brief trip orientation program and about do’s and don’t regarding Nepal and Tibet trip.
Half day cultural Sightseeing tour around Kathmandu Valley, with a visit to Boudhanath Stupa (Little Tibet) a great introduction on Tibetan Buddhist religion and culture, which will help you to get to know about the Buddhist / Tibetan way of life before heading to Tibet. This day your Chinese / Tibetan Visa will be obtained.
A great sweeping 1hr flight, if the weather is clear enough you can have the spectacular view of World’s highest peaks including Mount Everest. Will be received at the Airport by the Tibetan, Chinese Agents and will drive to our Hotel for about 2 Hours.
During these two days we will tour the fabled City of Lhasa and its famed monasteries and Tibetan market with a visit to the grand Potala Palace.
This is about a four hour’s scenic drive, and when in Shigatse we visit the very large complex of Tashilumpo monastery. This is the traditional residence of the Panchen Lama and contains a 27m high gold plated Buddha known as Matria (the future Buddha). The hotel in Shigtase is quite large and comfortable.
After a wonderful time at Shigatse, our drive continues to Shegar, crossing two high passes, one at 4,500m and 5,200m. Arriving at Hotel in Shegar or Xegar it is the only one in Shegar and in fact the only hotel within a 200 km radius.
A very scenic drive through the great high pass of Pang-la 5,200m offering one of the worlds most panoramic views of the central / eastern high Himalayan range of mountains and then reaching our point of Trekking at Kharta.
Our adventure begins from Kharta, heading westwards, following the Kharta Chu, a tributary of the great Arun River which flows towards Nepal, the route passes a number of small settlement and Yak dwellers and leading between terraces beside the river near to the village of Yeurba for the first overnight camp in the wilderness.
Kangshung face crosses the Langma 5,320 meter today, passing through villages; our path follows the ridge, through scrubby juniper and rhododendron, and finally coming to a rocky gorge, to emerge at the flat grassy area known as Lhatse for the overnight camp.
From this wonderful campsite today walk lead to the high pass of Langma of over 5,320m.
The walk leads to a steep winding path on the grassy slopes hill for over two hour till Langma is reached where you can hear the string of prayer flags fluttering on the wind. This top offers grand views of Makalu and as far as to Everest and other surrounding peaks, after a great moment here trek down towards the campsite on the grassy meadow near the drokpa or nomads camps.
The path leads on the gradual winding path most of the way with marvelous scenery of the landscapes and snow capped high mountains most of the way till Drogpa is reached for the overnight stop. Here depending upon the season meet the Shepard’s / nomads camp in Tibetan is known as Drogpa or Drokpa.
From Dropgpa the walk leads to Pethanf Ringmo heading down the valley from the cave to a long narrow trail 300m from the bottom of the Karma Valley, after crossing the Karma Valley, the path leads to Karma chu to Pethang.
Rest day with time to marvel the surrounding beauty and its landscapes and for a hike or to explore the unexplored area of this valley.
The walk leads to the high top walking slowly on this beautiful path overlooking grand views of the surrounding high peaks and beautiful landscapes of the valleys and high hills.
The walk gets easier as our trip ends to lower region on this Kharta valley passing through several yak pastures and nomads till Parthang is reached for the overnight stop.
Our walk leads to the long valley most of the way overlooking giant peaks on this summer pasture fields carpets of small beautiful flowers can be seen along the trail.
From Sharlung our route heads back towards Yuerba as the walk approaches to lower region of the valley and passing through several farm villages and agriculture lands till Sharo is reached for the overnight stop.

After a wonderful time at Kharta region today we head towards Everest region with a drive of 4-5 hrs to Phadrunchi for the overnight stop, just outside this small village.
From here drive leads through farm lands, villages and small town after 3 hours of good drive coming to the junction that leads towards the off trail to Rongbuk Monastery after 3-4 hours of drive reaching at Rongbuk Monastery for the overnight. From here the view of Everest North Face is really mind blowing.
Depending upon the time, one can reach Everest Base Camp on a horse cart within half an hour, as the motor car is not allowed within this limit, except for very elderly people and kids.
Rongbuk Gompa and its many hermitage retreats were introduced to the world in the 1920’s through the account of the 1st British expedition’s teams of George and Irving Mallaory and from the well-known novel Lost Horizon by James Hilton. At present most of the retreat cells are abandoned and only few small monasteries scattered at this end of the valley is in function. According to the Rimpoche of this area, the monastery was first established as a religious site around 250 to 350 years ago.
Today an option for a short walk of less than 2-3 hours or one can ride on horse cart and motorbike as taxi, from here pass the main road for short while taking the east high path passing through number of isolated and ruin monuments, then descending to the main road after 30 minutes walks to a fresh running stream(the local pilgrims considers as a holy water), after being on the main track the road continues on this easy wide trail coming to the ruins of Sherab Chholing, just above the road from the Stupa with piles of prayers stones we will have time for a short visit to these old hermitage caves enroute our destination at Everest Base Camp. After a visit to the hermit cave, walks continues for another hour and half on the gravel, rocky track with the last climb over the rocky dunes for 20 minutes, after the climb coming towards Everest Base Camp, at Base Camp one can see a old guest-house built by the Chinese Government perched on top of the moraine hill near the bunch of prayer flags with majestic views of Mt. Everest behind.
After a great time at Rongbuk with a visit to the Everest Base Camp, drive continues to join the main highway at Old Tingri, from this wind blown town the road is good and well maintained another four hours drives brings you back to the tree line and lush vegetation after leaving the high Tibetan plateau behind at the last town of Nylam. Before reaching Nylam, panoramic views of Shisapangma, Dorji Lakpa, Gauri Shanker and Langtang mountain range can be seen on a clear day. On reaching Nylam overnight camp just before or after Nylam or check into the local guest house / lodge. Nylam a small growing town, with various shops and restaurants Zhangmu check into
Drive leads back to the lush green vegetation and tree lines on the winding downhill road on reaching Zhangmu a border town, going through the immigration and custom formalities at Zhangmu, continue a short drive to the Friendship Bridge. From here a few minutes walk leads to the Nepal Border at Kodari. Here again with the Immigration formalities 4-5 hours of good scenic drive brings you back at Kathmandu.
